Transsexuals are sensitive ,dealing with it carefully .
Redefine my audience .
Testing my idea iterate with different intervention.
Feminism have more specific area, like queer feminism ,reading more articles about LGBT.
Feedback from alumina:
Pay more attention about our learning process, taking notes ,recording and taking photos to collect evidence .
Starting to speak to the first person ,and ask different people’s opinions ,including artist perspective and viewers perspective.
Finding different age of Chinese girl to do intervention and redefine feminism might also get different outcome.
Starting our intervention early ,don’t leave all the work at the last minutes.
The four Chinese ancient tragic beauties -Yuhuan Yang, Zhaojun Wang, Xishi, Diaochang
“The ancient four major beauties have different experiences, but actually has a common characteristic-is compelled to be involved in political the eddy current to cause the unfortunate tragedy destiny, discusses them when they as sacrificial victims in the political war .secondly ,when individual emotion conflict the social role ,the only thing they can do is to obedience the masculine ruler’s arrangement ,obedience their deterrent, then sacrifices individual emotion and even the life.It spread the masculine sound completely in the work, but the feminine individual is silence .Thirdly, in man dominated context, the character image of the four ancient major beauties are distorted and variated ,Finally ,although they are beautiful woman, but as the “second gender, they can not escape the pitiful destiny of being used as political tools by masculine.the ancient four beauties each kind of results in drama work ,or ends sad, or end happy ,but still satisfy the masculine’s creation desire.“
In order to test my idea ,i design a small experiment -drawing eyes for Yuhuan Yang(one of the four ancient beauties)
Traditional Chinese culture ,especially folklore and ancient painting ,and creative industry always be my interest ,so i intend to combine or them ,exploring a unique way to grafting these Chinese culture ,i hope myself and more and more Chinese younger generation will care about their own culture .
Why?
Many Chinese traditional culture is disappearing ,some of them are so important to china in the past, it’s a symbol of our national identity, and with the highly development of economy,we need to inherit and innovate our culture .
besides, those culture are belong to the whole world , they can invigorate the world culture .
How?
So how can we save our traditional culture and give it a new life .I think grafting Chinese traditional culture into high-tech or creative industry could be a useful way.
“Fu of LuoShen water” is a underwater dance to celebrating The Dragon Boat Festival in 2021,and being spread by HeNan TV and many social media , it achieved great success and aroused much attention to Chinese traditional culture, because the inspiration of this work is from a classical ancient poetry and painting.
It’s the perfect combination of Chinese profound traditional culture and modern technology(People’s daily ,2021).and it created a whole new form of dance-dancing under the water.
“White Snake” is the very first 4K panorama opera movie. It’s inspiration from a popular Chinese folklore and Cantonese opera. In recently years ,Cantonese Opera are forgetting by the younger generation ,they do not like it and think it is something out of date and only the elder watch it , but when the Cantonese opera appears in this new way , not only the elder but also many younger generation went into the theater and started to appreciate it .
So i want to dig more Chinese folktale and painting , grafting them into the modern society and relying on high technology and social media.
Firstly ,i will create a new blog in YouTube and other social media .secondly i can use multimedia technology to visualize these paintings and stories in a modern way, then i can post my work on social platforms to get feedback from people all over the world ,thirdly ,i will keep adjusting my work according to the useful feedback .finally ,i can find a best way to show Chinese traditional culture .
What if ?
If i finally achieved my goals , i believe more and more younger generation will start to pay more attention to our ancient folklore and paintings, they might be more care about these disappearing traditional culture, and even more, some of them might follow my way to innovative their own culture in a different way .
A month ago ,When I had no any idea about my project 5,The change I want to see ,my tutor Adam ask me : Is there anything makes you angry ? Then I started to thinking about my surroundings and my life experience ,and there was a terrible memory comes to my mind that i never found a seat at the Starbucks of shopping mall when i was living in Shenzhen.
Shenzhen is the fastest developing city since the reform and opening-up in china, it’s population and economy are among the top there in china in recent years .however, this city has only 5 university and 32 art galleries, and most of them are not popular ,people call it “The capital of making money “and “ Cultural desert ”. Shenzhen is a representative of china’s urbanization, with the development of economy , the younger generation flock in big cities for a better career which leads to the disappear of village(Luo ,2017). The orientation of Chinese cultural is agriculture civilization, and the agriculture civilization is based on the village. Therefore Chinese traditional culture is disappearing .
On one hand ,The young city – Shenzhen are in great need of culture .Because it has only 41 years of history ,and most of the population are immigrants ,including myself ,we are far away from our hometown ,living a busy life without much leisure and entertainment, even a common park will be very crowded at weekends, so I ‘d rather stay at home to play my mobile phone ,because we don’t really have much choice .On the other hand ,it’s really ironically ,as we all know china has more than 5000 years of history ,we possess rich cultural resources, but we are losing it . So i wonder if we can make a cultural grafting .Grafting some disappearing traditional culture into this young city。
“Shenzhen has no dominated culture ,it’s a hybrid culture ” Yeqiu Hu ,a Chinese writer said .So there are many possibility to explore it. And we can see the government noticed that and they have made the most effort to build new shopping malls and new libraries, imitating other cities, but i think it’s not always useful to innovation, to create some new things ,especially when their immigrants are lack of cultural identity.sometimes maybe we can look back, something we have lost unconsciously, ,just like our traditional culture ,Chinese medicine ,Chinese kungfu, Chinese calligraphic , Chinese fairy tale, 24 solar terms and so on.considering Shenzhen’s high developed technology,we can make a combination between the traditional culture and high-tech.for example ,we can create a “Chinese Disney”.people could share the same national identity, enjoy the exciting experience brought by high technology.
At the next stage , i want to explore a more specific area ,find a more proper way to graft Chinese traditional culture into Shenzhen ,providing local people more choice and bring cultural vitality to this city.
